Abstract: |
This paper proposes efficient method for frame loss concealment of advanced audio coding (AAC) decoder that can effectively mitigate adverse impact of transmission errors on the reconstruction quality. The information of the lost frame is estimated in the modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) domain in terms of the magnitude and sign of the MDCT coefficient. Computationally efficient approach, yet capable of providing accurate estimation is employed for the magnitude estimate. The enhanced sign-estimation is developed and implemented with extra information from encoder. Extensive subjective quality evaluation demonstrates that the proposed method can achieve substantial quality improvement with minimal assistance of encoder. |
