Reducing the ambient noise is a crucial for providing good sound capturing in modern computing systems, and likewise critical for the needs of real time communication and speech recognition. This tutorial will start with basics in the noise reduction and suppression and will end with the state of the art noise suppression and reduction algorithms for single and multiple channels. Several demos will illustrate the tutorial content: from simple one-channel adaptive noise suppression to advanced microphone array devices and algorithms. The target audience is engineers and researchers working in the area of audio signal processing planning or building audio systems for sound capturing.
